Muji Rebrand

Online Brand Identity2026

Entry for Print Awards

Muji has long been a reference point for me in thinking about what restraint in design can achieve. Founded on the philosophy of "no-brand quality," the brand has defined a visual language of simplicity, utility, and quiet precision that is immediately recognizable without announcing itself. Much of that sensibility traces back to Kenya Hara, Muji's longtime art director and one of the designers whose thinking has shaped how I approach my own practice.

This project is an independent brand redesign concept that reimagines Muji's visual identity while staying true to the values that make the brand what it is. The redesign spans a new logomark, a custom icon set covering Muji's core product categories, packaging, stationery, and poster mockups. The logomark distills the double-M of Muji into a single geometric form, compact and modular. The icon set applies the same logic across dozens of objects, from clothing to furniture to stationery, each reduced to its most essential silhouette. The goal was not to make Muji louder, but to find a new visual vocabulary that carries the same quiet confidence through a more contemporary lens.
